NUNGARIN REFUSE SITE

The Shire of Nungarin advises of facility restrictions to the Nungarin Refuse Site implemented as a strategy to combat the regular illegal dumping of unaccepted waste products, as per below list, and to minimize the 50% extra waste disposed in addition to the regular roadside collection.

Illegal dumping is the unauthorised discharge or abandonment of waste and is an offence under s.49A of the EP Act. On conviction, the offence carries a maximum penalty of $125,000 for corporations and $62,500 for individuals.

The department of Water and Environmental Regulations also investigates littering under the Litter Act 1979. Offences under the Litter Act 1979 carry a maximum penalty of $10,000 for corporations and $5,000 for individuals.

Camera surveillance is in use and offenders not abiding by the EP Act, Litter Act and the Shire of Nungarin Regulations will be prosecuted.
